The way we use the word douchebag is that it is a guy who blatantly shows off in a really cringey, obvious way

and thinks that he's really impressing the other people around him
사람들이 자기를 엄청 대단하다고 생각한다고 느끼는 사람을 부를 때 쓰는 말이야​

​ even though all the people around him think he's a loser who tries too hard.

​ Let's start off with a few examples of /cringey/ behavior to exemplify what I mean.

and you're just kind of like…

it was a kind of pathetic way of him trying to show off that he's a surgeon…

A douchebag is exactly this kind of guy who desperately wants to show off, but is really bad at it.

In all honesty, I think it's right and okay to show off sometimes,
​솔직히 나는 종종 자랑을 한 건 괜찮다고 생각해

especially for things you've earned like going to a good college or getting a good job,

or being good at something like being good at a foreign language or being good at a sport,

The word can also be used as an adjective, as in the word /douchey/.

And when we use the word as an adjective it's usually used to describe the /behavior/

and not so much used to describe the person. For example in the sentences

Imagine a guy with a convertible Ferrari driving around 홍대 on a Friday night blasting gangster rap and wearing sunglasses, and thinking he is just super awesome when in fact, most people are looking at him thinking he is trying /wayyy/ too hard to be cool.

Think of a guy who, when he meets people, shakes their hand super hard to feel like he's super manly and thinks he's being super tough and manly, when in fact people just walk away thinking “that guy is trying way too hard.”

Imagine you are on a 소개팅 and you meet this guy and you really don't know much about him so you guys are doing the general small talk to get to know someone.
