Today we’ll see how to form sentences with grammar pattern "(으)ㅂ시다" with some example sentences. This grammar pattern is used formally to express a proposition, suggestion, or an order to a group of two or more. This is equivalent to saying "Let's (verb) or Shall we (verb)" in English. How to conjugate (으)ㅂ시다 grammar pattern?
Verb + ㅂ시다 When the verb stem either does NOT have any 받침 or ends with a ㄹ then ㅂ시다 is used. For example : 가다 가다 - 가 + ㅂ시다 = 갑시다 ( Let's go. ) Verb + (으)ㅂ시다 When the verb stem ends with a 받침 then (으)ㅂ시다 is used. For example : 먹다 먹다 - 먹 + (으)ㅂ시다 = 먹읍시다 ( Let's eat. ) EXAMPLE SENTENCES
NOTE : The informal form of (으)ㅂ시다 is V + 자 You can drop (으)ㅂ시다 in the end of the sentences and instead use 자 when using it with your friends or anyone closer to you. The sentences then can be formed like :
